Communal Space
Our light-filled communal area is equipped with 4 wheels, a slab roller, hand-building tables, banding wheels and a wedging table. We have a selection of coloured slips and a selection of stoneware studio glazes.
We fire to stoneware temperatures and we ask that only stoneware and porcelain clays be used in the studio to avoid clay contamination and firing disasters.
We have recycling facilities for both red and white clays. While basic studio equipment is available in the communal area, we ask that users bring their own tools, aprons and towels.
Booking the shared communal studio space
Use of the communal space is first accessed by joining one of our classes (handbuilding or wheel) or private lessons. Our studio usage fees are $12 per hour (or $30 for a 3hr block) which entitles one person to use one wheel or table space during the session. Shelving is available for work in progress. Communal studio Access gives students an opportunity to practise between lessons and hone skills at their own pace and timeframe. A studio induction is compulsory prior to or in conjunction with your visit. Please contact us on 0408963722 to organise.
Booking your spot early is advised due to limited spaces.
Purchasing clay
If you are working in our communal space you will need to purchase you own stoneware clay. We also have small supplies of recycled clay to purchase occasionally. If you are local, we suggest Kerrie Lowe Gallery on King Street in Newtown . They sell a wide range of clay, tools and underglaze colours. Alternatively you can order online from Blackwattle Pottery Supplies and they will deliver free of charge to our studio for you.
